Acquires in: Cultural and race and ethic studies, including for the Formations: Adoption, Kinship, and Culture series

I’m actively seeking manuscripts across any discipline—media studies, history, literary and cultural criticism, ethnography, philosophy, political theory, and more—from a variety of theoretical approaches (trauma and affect, critical race studies, queer kinship, women’s studies, close readings, archival research, etc.) that complicate notions of adoption, kinship, identity, personhood, migration, and/or the politics of family. I acquire books for the Formations: Adoption, Kinship, and Culture series as well as other books and series on our general race and ethnic studies and media studies list.

I am also actively seeking literary nonfiction and memoir manuscripts that take up the aforementioned subjects (identity, race and ethnicity, kinship, migration, family, gender & sexuality) for our Mad Creeks Books imprint, in our Machete nonfiction series, 21st Century Essays series, and our Gournay Essay Prize series.
